Last week Denise Lynn of Whimsy Stamps sent me an email that was both horrifying and uplifting.  She invited me to join a blog hop dedicated to the support of a family devestated by senseless violence, and so here I am.

***If you’ve hopped over here from MICKI’S BLOG then you’re on the right track.  If not, please visit KATHARINA FREI to start at the beginning!***

Spread The Love - Stamp Something For Jaimie

“On October 4th, 4 teenagers armed with knives broke into a home in a small town in New Hampshire. Alone and sleeping inside were a mother and her 11 year old daughter. These 4 boys broke into this home with the intent to rob and kill anyone inside. They stabbed the mom, Kimberly Cates, to death and left her daughter, Jaimie, for dead in their driveway.  It was a completely random act, their home was chosen only due to its secluded surroundings.”

Our hope is that everyone hopping around today will stop for a moment and think about Jaimie and her father and what life must be like for them now. One moment in time has changed their lives forever. We are asking that everyone reading this message please take a moment to make a card and send it off to Jaimie. You can make something very simple or much more involved, but please share some words of hope and love and let her know that people do care and want the best for her.

Please send your card to the address below:

Jaimie Cates c/o Mont Vernon Fire Station Main Street Mont Vernon, NH 03057,  United States

Why did I join this hop?  I was certainly touched by Jaimie’s story, but moreso than that, I think the message is really important – “Spread The Love”.  Every day we hear about truly horrifying and senseless acts of violence and cruelty, but when people come together in a positive way it is so powerful.  And maybe this can inspire us all a little.

We have over 60 hoppers joining us and some amazing sponsors who have donated fabulous prizes for our Spread the Love Card Drive Challenge!

The Blog hop will end on Monday, November 9th at 10am ET (3 pm GMT). At that point we will draw random winners to receive the prizes offered by our generous sponsors.

In Denise’s email she related the following info: “Jaimie is not really a girlie girl, but she does like hot pink and black. She likes outdoor activities such as biking, skateboarding, razor rip stick, snowboarding, and karate. As you may have read, she is a black belt in karate.

Spread The Love - Stamp Something For Jaimie Blog Hop - Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps - Maxwell Snowboarding

This fantastic new image from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps instantly came to mind – Maxwell Snowboarding.  I’ve coloured Maxwell with Copics, and as usual, there is a list of the shades used at the end of this post.

The papers are from one of my favourite Basic Grey pads – Figgy Pudding.  The multiple looped bow has been created using the Bow-Easy template, which I can see being permanently out on my desk!  I created the snow underneath Maxwell’s leaf snowboard using Polar White FlowerSoft.  And I finished the card off with a 4mm Red Pearl in each corner.

Thank you so much for dropping by, I hope you can find a way to spread some love this week, whether it be by sending a card to Jaime, or responding to something in your own community, or to something that deeply touches you.

*** Your next stop on the hop is JENNY LAZSLO  ***
