The long Easter weekend ended up being a fantastic period of relaxation here, with a few of the usual household chores thrown in. I found myself immersed in some art journaling with old TV series on Netflix in the background, and also managed to play with some paint and canvases!
This little trio of chunky 5 inch canvases are the results of yesterday’s play session, which I very much enjoyed. There is something very therapeutic about playing with paint and other mediums.
My inspiration for the canvases actually started with the Stamping Bella – Journal Your Art Out – Nature Silhouettes stamp set (also available in the UK from me at Quixotic Paperie). I have a real thing for butterflies and other winged things at the moment, they just speak to me for some reason, possibly because there are lots of changes afoot this year.
I stamped the silhouettes using Ranger Archival Ink in “Coffee” on wooden hearts which I had painted and stencilled using acrylic paints. The wording and flowers were adding using a Graphic 45 alphabet stamp set. I painted and stencilled the canvases using the same acrylic paints, and distressed with the same Ranger Archival ink.
That’s it! I hope you enjoyed seeing my little canvases today. You may see some more popping up in the near future, as I have a few little gifts planned.
For those of you that stop by to see my marker colouring, I promise I will have something in that vein to show you this week!
I wish I could find more time to play with mixed media art. It really is relaxing. Your canvases are lovely Elaine. 🙂
These are fabulous. Love the colors you used. Love the hearts and images on them, canvases are so fun and these are beautiful Elaine.

Absolutely beautiful .. I love the dragonflies particularly. Can you give me a link to the Graphic 45 alphabet stamp set please, I’ve been hunting on the website and can’t find it.
Many Thanks
