Today we’re having a fun and hopefully inspiring blog hop to celebrate the first release of 2014 from SCACD Stamps.
If you’re already on the hop you should have landed here via our awesome artist Carmen Medlin’s blog. If not, you can pop over to the SCACD Store Blog to get all the details and join in the hop.

Earlier this month SCACD released the Montage collection of rubber stamps, a total of 26 rubber stamps with a contemporary yet classic look that will make them a fantastic addition to your stamping toolbox for years to come. They are available now for purchase HERE both in full sheets and as smaller sets. SCACD has also unleashed 12 fun and fresh SCACD Digital images for purchase HERE.
International Customers: The digital images can be purchased HERE. The new rubber stamps can be purchased from Quixotic Paperie.

You may not know that I love Orcas. I’ve always been fascinated with wildlife in general, and as a child I often used to read BBC Wildlife and other similar magazines. I remember reading articles about whale and dolphin watching holidays, and would dream about going on one (still do). Then, my fascination with Orcas grew further after my Dad took me to see Free Willy at the cinema. In the past year my interest was rekindled when I heard of the book Death at SeaWorld: Shamu and the Dark Side of Killer Whales in Captivity which proved to be a fascinating read filled with information and insights into the natural life of Orcas, as well as a compelling case against keeping them in captivity.
With that in mind, you can probably guess how excited I was to learn that SCACD Stamps were releasing an Orca image in their SCACD Digital line earlier this month! I just had to use it on my card for today’s hop.
Meet “Wild, Free, Happy” from the Carmen Medlin for SCACD Digital collection.
You can see how to make this fun Pop Up Box Card over on Splitcoast Stampers where Dina K provided a step by step photo tutorial and a video. I had so much fun making this one, I will definitely be making more this year for some of the special birthdays and events that are coming. I know our nieces in particular will love them. They definitely have the “wow” factor!
This is what the card looks like when folded flat for posting:
I stamped “Wild, Free, Happy” on my favourite Make it Colour Blending Card and coloured with Copic markers. Here’s the marker list:
Copics: BV25, BV29, 110, Y19, YR23, Y38, YR04, BG23, BG18, BG75, RV63, RV66, BV13, BV08, B000, BV02
The papers I used were a mixture of Prima Marketing Inc Sunrise Sunset and an old Glitz Designs 8×8 sheet. All the wording and borders/doily images were added using rub-ons from Tim Holtz and Pink Paislee. The stars are Studio Calico wood veneers covered in white paint. The waves were die cut from cardstock using MFT Die-Namics Catch a Wave, and I used a Ranger Acrylic Paint Dabber in Snow Cap for the detail.
I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out my project today. Your next stop on the hop is Christine’s Blog. Have fun!
