Join me today for a colouring video and step by step colouring guide demonstrating how to add an easy Copic background to your stamped images and give them a little extra “wow” factor!
Stamping Bella Tiny Townie Casey has a Cornucopia:
Casey has a Cornucopia is one of the latest rubber stamp releases from Stamping Bella. She’s a fun autumnal image with lots of detail to colour.
To see how I tackle colouring a detailed image like Casey has a Cornucopia, check out my Marker Geek Monday post today over on the Stamping Bella blog. Click through to watch the video and see the step by step guide along with some tips and tricks: Marker Geek Monday – Colouring a Detailed Stamp Image w/ step by step guide & video.
If you have ordered the Casey has a Cornucopia stamp from Stamping Bella, you can download a Copic Colour Map for the image via your account on the Stamping Bella website. If you purchase the stamp elsewhere you can contact Emily at Stamping Bella to obtain one. Visit this page for more information: How to Get Your Free Colour Map.
Adding an Easy Copic Background to Casey:
Here’s the card I created for the release, featuring Casey and the lovely sentiment that comes in the stamp set. For full details on the supplies for this card please visit my earlier blog post: Stamping Bella Holiday 2016 Release Previews Day 2.
You can watch me colouring Casey in my Casey has a Cornucopia speed colouring video. Note: I apologise that the linked video is a little wobbly. Unfortunately I filmed it before I had addressed the issues I was experiencing with my video camera. These issues are now fixed and more recently filmed videos including the background video below do not have the “wobble”.
As you can see on my card above I added a simple background for Casey to stand in. It was really easy to do, as you will see from the video below (details of Copic colours used are given in the video)! This background technique is fairly loose and quick – as you will see, I don’t take a lot of time over it.

You can watch the video below or in HD over on YouTube.
I didn’t decide to add a background until after I had coloured Casey. If you know that you intend to add a background to an image, it might be better to start with colouring the background first. Approaching it that way avoids the risk of accidentally colouring over areas of your finished image!
If you are colouring the background last, the best advice is probably to try and colour away from the image. When colouring the sky for instance, if you are colouring in long horizontal strokes, start at the edge of the image and colour away towards the edge of the paper.
Easy Copic Background Step by Step Guide:
TOP TIP: Trim or die cut your image before colouring the background, this gives a clear area to work in.
Please feel free to save this image or pin it to your Pinterest board. It is intended for your reference. I do ask that you do not repost this image on your own blog or directly send the image to other people, instead please direct them to this blog post to obtain it for themselves.

I created a similar background for my card featuring Stamping Bella Tiny Townie Patricia Loves Pumpkins.
