I’ve got a trio of cards and a new video for you to enjoy today, featuring another Stamping Bella Tiny Townie Butterfly Girl, this time the one with the epic full set of wings – Babette. She was the perfect choice to show off one of my favourite techniques.

Butterfly Girl Babette Cards:

I’ve been demonstrating my love for using the Distress Oxide inkpads * to create ink blended backgrounds. But that’s not the only way I like to use them! You may remember that last year I posted some inspiration on the Stamping Bella blog for using Distress Oxide background pieces created using the ink smooshing technique to paper piece mermaid tails (HERE). I was looking at the gorgeous new Tiny Townie Butterfly Girl Babette stamp, and thought this would be the perfect way to create some gorgeous butterfly wings too! So I created some background pieces, stamped and paper pieced the wings and created some eye catching cards. I filmed the entire process so you can see how I did it and follow along if you would like!

You will find a full list of supplies at the end of the post.

Here are the three cards I created.

As you can see, I couldn’t resist carrying the Distress Oxides through to the background too!

The purple one is my favourite, with the galaxy effect going on. So pretty.

As you will see in the video below, I added a tiny amount of coloured pencil for the shadow under the top wings, to add some dimension and help separate them. So easy to do, and you have effortlessly gorgeous butterfly wings!
