If you follow me over on Instagram, you may have seen that I bought some OLO markers to try out a couple of weeks ago. So here I am with an OLO marker coloured card, and some thoughts! I’m also sharing another card featuring that gorgeous Daisy Layers Bouquet stamp set from Honey Bee Stamps. If you missed my Copic coloured card and colouring video from yesterday, you can see that HERE.

Daisy Layers Bouquet Card

I had a lot of fun playing with the OLO markers for this card, as my colour selection is quite limited at the moment, so I had to get a little creative! It reminded me of the earlier part of my colouring journey, and all the fun of experimenting with a smaller marker collection.

OLO Markers

I picked up a few packs of the OLO Markers – the only ones I could get hold of here in the UK. I’ve been pretty slow to check this brand of marker out, for a couple of reasons! Firstly I got tired of trying out alcohol markers that just didn’t really live up to the experience with Copics. Since I have a full collection of Copic markers, I gave up on playing with other brands. Secondly, I didn’t really grasp the concept fully. For some reason my brain dismissed them as potentially being a bit like Chameleon markers, which I did not love, simply because I don’t like a lot of faffing. Basically, I didn’t want to be interested, so I didn’t investigate properly. Then a couple of people asked me about the OLO markers recently, and I thought I should take a proper look at them. I ordered a few packs from a UK retailer – everything they had in stock in the brush tips. I currently have 32 colours to play with. When I sat down and started using them, I found myself really pleasantly surprised.

Unfortunately we don’t currently have any retailers stocking the full range here in the UK. But, after I posted some thoughts and pictures of colouring on my Instagram stories, OLO reached out and generously asked if I would like them to send me some more markers to try out. So I have another 48 colours (of my choice) on the way, and I will be trying them out more thoroughly and doing a full post about them in the near future. I’ve already filmed a couple of videos with the colours I currently have, which I will share soon.

Will I be replacing my Copic markers with OLO? No. I have a full set of Copic markers and practically a full set of refills for them. I love my Copic markers. However, I know that there have been some problems with quality control recently, and people newer to colouring with alcohol based markers have been looking for markers of a comparable quality to collect and work with. I’m really hopeful that OLO markers might be a good answer! I’m also looking at the colours OLO have available, and I can see they are filling in some gaps where I feel Copic are lacking colour-wise. So, I will be using OLO markers both on their own, and alongside Copics.
