Wednesday again!  Crazy.  I have no idea where Monday and Tuesday went.  I’m in the middle of rearranging things here – a new desk arrived and went up on Monday, and then I decided I really needed another one, so that is hopefully arriving today.  That’s also why I’ve been a bit quiet!

We’ve got another fab challenge for you over at Quixotic ChallengesJudy is asking to see DIY Flowers on your cards/projects.  Perfect challenge for me as this is something I always mean to do, but never seem to get around to.

As it would happen, the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die and some Grunge Paper landed on my desk yesterday, so I hunted down a tutorial and created my first grunge paper rose!  I followed Beate Johns’ fab tutorial which you can find over on SplitCoast Stampers.  Here’s another tutorial, because you don’t have to use the same die at all.

Remember last week, when Judy and I both used the Mo Manning “Bye Bye Boy” stamp from Stamping Bella?  Well, we’ve done it again!  Entirely accidental, we didn’t plan it!  Have to say, I do enjoy it when that happens though, shows the image beautifully in different styles.

This image is the adorable Bye Bye Girl by Mo Manning, now available in yummy rubbah courtesy of Stamping Bella!  For those of you in the UK/Europe this little sweetie is available HERE.  Those of you in the US/Canada can grab her HERE.  And those of you that prefer to get your fix digitally can find her HERE.

I’ve coloured her using Copics:

Skin: E00, E11 Hair: E50, E53, E55, E57, E59 Jacket: E50, E53, E57, E95, E00 Trousers: E30, E31, E34, E35, E37 Backpack & Tricycle: E00, E95, E97, W2, W5, W6, W9 Ground: W0, W1, W2, W3 Sky: B0000, B91

The gorgeous papers are from the Fancy Pants “Roadshow” collection kit available HERE (Stamping Bella also carries Fancy Pants Designs for those of you across the pond).  LOVE them.  They’re quite vintage looking, so I went with that and coloured the image in muted tones, and of course created a very vintage/shabby rose with that super Tattered Florals die, grunge paper, distress inks, a Magnolia text background stamp and some Shimmerz Spritz (available HERE) for a little sparkle.  I need to practice the rose technique a little to perfect it, but I’m pretty happy with this as a first attempt!

I created the pearl and crystal swirls using the Bazzill Basics Fantasy Flourish Jewel Templates available HERE, with 4mm flatback pearls and Bazzill Basics adhesive crystals available HERE.

The sentiment is also from Stamping Bella.  You actually get the same sentiment with Bye-Bye Girl, but in a different font.  I used this one as it fit a little better with the vintage style, and for sentimental reasons, as this was one of the very first stamps I bought from Stamping Bella a few years ago!

Gotta love these triple DT combos!  They will probably be a regular Wednesday feature. 😉

Make sure you pop over to the Quixotic Challenge blog and check out the rest of the inspiration this week!

This card also happens to have the privilege of being the first to be created on my new desk!  Hooray!  And since I have a new desk, it seems like a good time to start joining in with What’s On Your WorkDesk? Wednesday (WOYWW).  Not that exciting, but this is how my desk looked first thing this morning, waiting to get messy (click the pic for a larger view)!

My New Desk!

More pics next week when I’ve got the second desk assembled and everything “organised”.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the first in this month’s round of Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps previews.  Is it really that time already?!
