At the start of the week I received a lovely message from Amy Young asking me to guest design this week with a couple of her new mermaid images. Spoiler – I said yes! I think Amy and I started our Copic colouring journey at around the same time, so it feels like I’ve known her (or at least her work) forever. Amy’s creativity has always been an absolute inspiration, and her images are a lot of fun to work with. It is fantastic to see her taking on a new adventure with Sweet November Stamps. Check out my take on the new Sweet November Stamps mermaid Resting below!

I posted a card with some of Amy’s other digital images earlier in the week, if you missed it you can find it HERE.

Sweet November Stamps Resting Card

Resting is available now from Amy’s Sweet November Stamps store. She is a digital image, and comes with some adorable flying fish as a ready made JPG scene, or as separate PNG files for creating your own stories. The PNG files have transparent backgrounds, making them perfect for layering to create scenes. I used just the mermaid PNG, because as soon as I saw her, a story popped into my head.

Sweet November Stamps Mermaid - Resting - Copic Coloured Digital Stamp Scene

Amy has definitely been influencing me lately to loosen up a bit, play with some more storytelling/scene ideas, and most importantly to have fun!

I printed the image on my favourite Make it Colour Blending Card before colouring with Copic Markers. I also used some Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils* to enhance some of the shadows, and the sand, and a Sakura White Gelly Roll pen* to add to the sparkly effect on the tail.

The sentiment is from an older Hero Arts clear stamp set – CL129.

There is another new mermaid digi available today – Harbor Sunnyshore. I’ll be sharing my card featuring Harbor and her penguin friends next Tuesday, so look out for that! I also have it on good authority that the mermaid fun will be continuing after MerMay is over, as Amy will be working on some requested ideas. Can’t wait to see what other fun she has in store for us all.
