Continuing with the Halloween theme today, I’ve got a couple of fun cards featuring the new add-on products for Yana Smakula’s City Holiday collection at Spellbinders. The City Holiday dies were one of my favourite releases last year, and I love that Spellbinders have released some add-on products this year to make them usable year round in a variety of ways. One of my favourite things about Spellbinders is that they often release add-ons that help to bring new life to products you already have in your collection.
Of course, I love the Halloween theme, so I was immediately sold on the new Halloween City Holiday Decorations die set and the elegant Happy Halloween Sentiments Press & Foil Plate and die set. You will find all of the products used on today’s cards linked in the handy table at the end of my post. I created two 5″x7″ cards so I could create a couple of scenes.
I used a couple of add-on die sets actually, as earlier this year Yana created the Everyday Windows, Curtains, and Flower Boxes die set. The original set has arched windows, but it’s fun to change up that look with the rectangular frames and having more curtain options is great! I didn’t use the flower boxes, but it would be fun to have the zombie hand rising up from one of them! The tree in the background and the landscape come from the Picture Perfect Autumn Large Die of the Month from September 2024, which at the time of typing is on clearance at Spellbinders UK.
I used my Copic markers on the jack-o-lanterns to add some extra detail.
The backgrounds on both cards were created by ink blending over Spellbinders ColorWheel cardstock, and then using some watered down black paint for the splatter. On this second card I went for a more coordinated look to the building. It’s really fun to play around and create different looks.
